Kluay Buat Chee
Kluay buat chee literally means "bananas who have entered nunhood," a possible reference to the similarity between the bananas floating in coconut cream and Theravada nuns who would shave their head and eyebrows before donning a white robe. This smooth, creamy dessert combines the sweetness of ripe bananas with the richness of coconut cream. It can be served hot, warm, or chilled.

Notes
One way to obtain coconut cream is to skim it off the top of a can of unshaken coconut milk. The cream is more likely to separate in cool weather or in the refrigerator. Add 8–10 lychees for a tangier flavor.Copyright © 1993—2024 World Trade Press. All rights reserved.
